Meet the Pastors and staff here at Living Water.
John Mendoza – Senior Pastor
In 1980 a friend invited me to his church. The pastor preached Christ and Christ crucified and later gave an invitation to receive Christ. I went forward that day and surrendered to Jesus Christ.
In 2004, while in my second year at Calvary Chapel School of Ministry, at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, the Lord led me to plant Living Water Christian Fellowship.
One of my greatest ministry influences has been Chuck Smith, whose pulpit teaching I have sat under for a quarter century, and whose personal class room teaching I have been blessed with for two years. Chuck’s emphasis on the priority of God’s Word is shared by Living Water Christian Fellowship.
After a brief experience in vocational ministry here in South Orange County, the Lord led me to start Living Water Christian Fellowship, and to found this church upon the verse by verse teaching of God’s Word, placing a priority upon being led by the Spirit and containing a staff exhibiting Christ likeness. Our hope is that we are a place of not only the exposition of God’s Word, but one where loving kindness as taught by Jesus would be seen in every aspect of the ministry.
Eddie Evans – Worship Leader
The only christian I knew as a child was a lady who used to babysit me. When I was about 8 years old, she told me that Jesus was knocking on my heart and asked me to pray with her. Years later, when the time came, I was open to the Gospel. I was saved on Sept. 10, 1978 when a friend led me to the Lord in his backyard. He asked to pray and we did. It wasn’t really dramatic, but it changed everything.
I attended Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa for several years, led worship on Tuesday nights and at the Saturday night concerts. I was also in some christian bands (none that were famous). Although, I fell away for a time, God wasn’t done with me yet. I recommitted my life to Christ, went back to Calvary and led worship again for a season. That’s where I met Melissa, my lovely wife.
I’m blessed with the opportunity to use the talent that God has given me to serve Him, with the goal of making beautiful music, blessing people with it and praising the name of Jesus Christ. This is the most important thing I’ve ever done – being the worship leader at Living Water Christian Fellowship.
My life scripture is 1 John 1:5-9
Kimberly Mendoza – Women’s Director
I was saved when I was 9 years old. While I was growing up, my mom would always be sure to tell my brother and I about God, and she also made sure we went to Sunday school. But it was my grandmother who was the greatest influence in my early Christian walk.
The day I was saved, I had gone to church with my grandparents. We were running late to church that day, so I went with them into the main sanctuary. It was then that I was saved, during the main service.
I know that Jesus has called me to serve. It doesn’t really matter where. I have been called to tend and feed. I am the hands and feet of Jesus – loving, feeding and tending the sheep He has placed in my care.
For more than 15 years, I have been involved in ministry. I have taught children as well as women and have enjoyed serving the Lord in every opportunity.
Living Water Christian Fellowship is a place where people can come and receive the full council of God, from cover to cover. I believe it’s a place where the moment you walk in the door, you can’t help but sense the love of Jesus. People do not serve here because they want a title; they serve because of an overflow of the love they have for their Savior. We don’t have gimmicks, bells and whistles – we simply have the Word of God served up and delivered each and every week. To the glory of God and for His purposes!
Cassie Skiles – Children’s Director
I grew up in a Christian home and was baptized at 14. It was then that I really understood what it means to have Jesus in your heart. I strayed a little bit during my early adult years, but rededicated my life to the Lord in college. I was part of a sorority and went to a bible study with them. It was the first bible study I had been to in a long time and I realized then that I needed to get back to the Lord. It was a slow process, but God was totally tugging on my heart.
I love kids. I coached kids’ gymnastics throughout high school and college. I attended Calvary Laguna for several years and was a full-time Sunday school teacher there.
Eventually, God lead me to leading the Children’s Ministry here at Living Water Christian Fellowship.
I love to tell the kids about Jesus. It’s my favorite joy – just to see their faces and to see them learn and grow. It’s such a blessing to see them grow closer to the Lord.
In addition to the kids, my heart is also to reach out to the teachers and to the parents. I’m here to support and minster to them as well.
Wally Wyman – Jr. High Pastor
Ministry: Jr. High Ministry and Men’s Ministry
Testimony:
I was saved on Easter Sunday in 1975, when I was 10 years old. I grew up in a Baptist church outside of Chicago and had heard about Jesus for as long as I could remember. But that year on Easter night, I couldn’t sleep. All night I was thinking about Jesus. I told my mom what was on my heart, and she shared the Gospel with me. On that Easter, God grabbed a hold of my heart and I said, ”OK.”
I began teaching after graduating from high school. I was in the Navy and came home on leave, and the youth pastor at our church was sick. They asked me to teach for him, and since that time I’ve been involved in youth ministry for Junior High and High School kids. I’ve also lead worship for youth ministries. I have been teaching the Junior High kids at LWCF for three years, and also the men’s ministry on Saturdays for about 1.5 years.
God put me with the youth – it’s a specific calling. I’ve been working with kids for about 25 years now. It’s what they needed and it’s what God has wanted me to do. I’ve always been a kid at heart, so it’s very natural for me to work with them. God uses that with the kids and has given me an ability to take his word and to put it into language the kids understand. That’s the biggest blessing.
